Homicide detectives are now looking for a person on interest in a recent homicide in Surrey.

On Friday, Feb. 27, Surrey RCMP received a call from emergency responders about an unresponsive person in the 9500-block of 139 Street.

When police arrived, 34-year-old Michael Amy (pictured left), of Abbotsford, was found dead in an SUV.

The cause of death has not been made public.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) said Tuesday it is looking for 44-year-old Donald Lyle Salahub of Abbotsford, who investigators identified as a "person of interest" in the death of Amy.

Salahub is currently wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for violating his parole after disappearing from a halfway house in February.

Salahub recently appeared in Vancouver Provincial Court in November on charges of fraud under $5,000 and theft under $5,000.

He was found guilty on both counts.

Salahub is originally from Manitoba and is described as 5’11”, weighing more than 200 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

IHIT is asking anyone who may have information about Salahub’s whereabouts to call the IHIT tipline at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or email
