Heavy rain flooded a section of Marine Drive and the waterfront parking lots west of Oxford Street Sunday evening.
White Rock resident Tony Roy alerted Peace Arch News of the flooding at 8:39 p.m. Sunday.
“I just noticed a few houses got flooded from the rain storm an hour ago. The houses are on Marine Drive west of Oxford St. Includes the parking lot,” Roy wrote to PAN.
City communications manager Farnaz Farrokhi emailed PAN Monday saying that the city’s engineering and operations crew were deployed to the flooding after the city was notified of high level alarms at the storm sewer pump station.
“The Operations crew also noted that given the amount of rain fall the City continued to get, the best course of action was to add a six (6) inch mobile pump to further assist the pumps. The Operations crew are now flushing the lines in anticipation of future stormy weather,” Farrokhi wrote.
Most of the water had been removed by Monday morning.
