A lighter than expected snowfall hit Surrey overnight. Environment Canada is warning a heavy snowfall will occur during the day Friday.

The expected heavy overnight snowfall failed to happen and Environment Canada is now expecting less snow than previously forecast.

Updated forecasts call for two to four centimetres of snow Friday morning, changing to rain in the afternoon as the temperature climbs above freezing. Temperatures were minus-2 (Celsius) in the morning and were expected to climb to three degrees in the afternoon.

The City of Surrey has an extensive plan to deal with snowy and icy roads.
