About eight shots rang out in rapid succession in Panorama Ridge this week, leaving one man dead and another critically injured.

Several orange police evidence cones surrounded a new model black Chevy Silverado truck Friday morning on the lawn of a home in the 13900-block 56 Avenue. The driver's side window appeared to have a bullet holes in it.

Neighbours in the upscale neighbourhood said they heard six to eight shots ring out, in what one described as what sounded like a semi-automatic weapon. Witnesses say the gunfire started at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

Both were taken to hospital, where one died and the other remains in critical condition.

The four-acre property just sold last year, and was rented out to some Caucasian males, with full sleeves of tattoos, who always wore hooded jackets.

"They were extremely intimidating," one of the neighbours said.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called in and is currently canvassing the area in an attempt to obtain evidence and speak with potential witnesses.

“Although it is in the very early stages, at this point this shooting appears to be targeted and gang related,” say Sgt. Jennifer Pound. Police are not releasing names until family members are notified.

There is no word as of yet whether it is linked to the Duhre shooting in Vancouver this week.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is asking anyone who may have information about this homicide to come forward and speak with investigators.
