After a weekend spate of gun violence that left three men dead, another shooting has occurred in Surrey.
Just before 2 a.m. on Tuesday (Jan. 15), Surrey RCMP responded to shots fired in the area of 127 Street and 112B Avenue.
RCMP located a male on the ground who appeared to be suffering from gunshot wounds. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“IHIT (Integrated Homicide Investigation Unit) can confirm that this most recent Surrey shooting was a targeted, gang-related homicide. We are working closely with Surrey RCMP and the CFSEUBC in order to process the scene quickly and determine who is responsible,” said IHIT spokesperson Sgt. Jennifer Pound.
Tuesday's shooting comes after a three men were shot dead over the weekend in two separate shootings.
At about 7 p.m. Sunday, a man was shot near 168 Street and 76 Avenue. He was transported to hospital where he died at 11:30 p.m.
Police now say that shooting was targeted and gang-related.
“This shooting is a targeted shooting on the victim who was known to police. He has been identified as 27-year-old Surrey resident, Manjot Dhillon,” said Pound.
They say it's too early to say whether that killing and last Tuesday's shooting or related.
Then, at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday, RCMP were called to a parkade at an apartment building near 128 Street and 94 Avenue. Just before midnight they found two men shot to death.
