The U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor is returning to the Abbotsford International Airshow next year.

The F-22 demo team recently shared their 2024 schedule on social media and the dates confirm that they will be in Abbotsford for the airshow from Aug. 9 to 11.

This will be the first time that the F-22 has appeared at the airshow since 2021. The aircraft also appeared in Abbotsford for the 2015 show.

According to the USAF website, the F-22 Raptor is combination of stealth, supercruise, maneuverability, and integrated avionics, coupled with improved supportability, represents an exponential leap in warfighting capabilities. The Raptor performs both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions allowing full realization of operational concepts vital to the 21st century Air Force.

The website adds that The F-22 is a critical component of the Global Strike Task Force, is designed to project air dominance, rapidly and at great distances and defeat threats attempting to deny access to America’s Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps. The F-22 cannot be matched by any known or projected fighter aircraft.

The plane is over 62 feet long, over 16 feet high and weighs 43,340 pounds. It is mach two class speed with supercruise capability and costs $143 million per unit. It began operation in December 2005.
