A former Conservative for Surrey-North is now supporting a Liberal candidate in the newly branded riding.
Dona Cadman, who served as MP for Surrey-North from 2008 to 2011, said she'll be voting for Liberal candidate Randeeep Singh Sarai this election in the new Surrey Centre riding.
Cadman said she's met Sarai and greatly appreciates his approach to the crime issue in Surrey.
"Federally, I think Justin Trudeau is ready to make a change for Canada," Cadman said Friday. "I'm retired from politics, so I can now say how and what I feel."
She still has a membership in the Conservative Party of Canada, but said after supporting a Liberal, she thinks it will be pulled.
She said she finds Sarai a very personable candidate, who she feels would be best for the job.
She said she hasn't heard from the Conservatives since she made the announcement.
Asked if she received any incentives from the Liberals or Sarai for backing, she said 'no.'
The election will be held Monday, Oct. 19.
