Police are re-directing traffic in Newton after a transport truck overturned on 72 Avenue near 132 Street on Wednesday afternoon.

Surrey RCMP Cpl. Sarbjit Sangha said there were no injuries. “No hazardous material it looks like, just building material or cabinet material. They had to close down the road to pick up all the stuff that’s now probably on the floor there. Thankfully no injuries, it looks like the driver was already out of the truck and trying to direct traffic before we got the call.

“Please plan an alternate route as this closure may take few hours,” Sangha said.

The Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement branch is investigating the incident.
