One to hospital after flat-deck downs South Surrey power pole

One person was transported to hospital early Tuesday (April 16), after a flat-deck carrying a Bobcat struck a utility pole on 184 Street at 40 Avenue.

According to a news release, officers were dispatched to the South Surrey intersection at approximately 1:20 a.m. The collision downed the pole and wires, prompting police to close the road between 32 and 40 Avenues.

The thoroughfare was reopened just before 8 a.m., however, the morning commute was affected for some.

Investigation is underway, and police say it is unclear if speed or alcohol were factors in the incident. The driver suffered “undisclosed injuries,” the release notes.
