The City of Surrey is celebrating seniors with its annual Seniors Week event, set to open with a health and wellness forum on June 1.
The forum, followed by a week filled with seniors-focused activities throughout the city, features a new ‘Try It’ 55-plus sports and games passport contest, where participants receive a passport at their first activity, then collect stamps at each subsequent event and earn entries for a chance to win an annual recreation pass.
“The ‘Try It’ sports sessions are part of the city’s ongoing efforts to promote active and healthy lifestyles in our seniors community. It is also an opportunity for our 55-plus residents to try something new,” said Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke.
“I invite our seniors community to come be a part of the week-long celebrations where you can get active, have fun and meet new friends. I hope to see you there.”

Participants can explore information booths, enjoy door prizes, complimentary welcome refreshments, and lunch. Fun activities throughout the week include ‘Try It’ Sports, WALKit sampler activities and a ‘pop up’ Storywalk®.
