The Snowed In Comedy Tour will return to Surrey this winter with the familiar foursome of Dan Quinn, Paul Myrehaug, Pete Zedlacher and Erica Sigurdson.

The all-Canadian comedians are booked to perform at Surrey Arts Centre’s Main Stage on Thursday, Jan. 25, as part of an annual tour of the country.

Fifteen years in, Snowed In has become a Canadian success story involving 70 cities in this country in addition to some in Australia, the U.S., France and Switzerland.

Surrey has become an annual stop for a tour that includes visits to Vancouver (Jan. 26 at Vogue Theatre), Chilliwack, Whistler and other B.C. cities and towns.

Ticket details ($33.25 to $53.25 each for the Surrey date) are posted to snowedincomedytour.com, click tickets.surrey.ca or call 604-501-5566.

On a night last January, the quartet of Quinn, Myrehaug, Zedlacher and Sigurdson all hit the stage at the Bear Creek Park theatre, just a few blocks from where Sigurdson went to school, Queen Elizabeth Secondary.

“It’s weird,” Sigurdson said in a phone interview prior to the show, “because I’ve played almost all of the theatres we’re doing on this tour, except in my hometown. I’ve never played Surrey Arts Centre, so it’s kind nice to be able to do that. Hopefully my friends show up.”

At age seven she wrote her first joke and performed it for her parents: What can a person in a wheelchair never be? A stand-up comic.

“My parents kind of looked at me, slightly horrified by my very politically incorrect joke, but they were also kind of impressed that I clearly got the anatomy of writing a joke at a young age,” Sigurdson says in Beka Shane Denter’s 2022 book, “Bloom Where You Are Planted: 50 Conversations With Inspiring British Columbians” (Heritage House).

The four comedians travel the country in a pair of SUVs, reported Sigurdson, who doesn’t ski or snowboard but everyone else has gear for the hills, requiring additional cargo space.

Elsewhere in Surrey, Scottish comedian Danny Bhoy will be at Bell Performing Arts Centre Thursday, Nov. 2, on his “Now Is Not a Good Time” tour, presented by the Just For Laughs company.

The Sullivan-area theatre will also be a stage for the comedy show “My One & Only” starring Im Hussein, on Saturday, Nov. 4, among other shows and concerts this fall.
