An opening reception will be held tonight in Surrey for an exhibit featuring movie-inspired poster art.

The show, called Silver Screen Classics Competition and Exhibition, highlights about 20 pieces of art influenced by movies from the 1930s and 1940s. A preview of the works was had during an 80th birthday celebration last weekend for longtime Surrey arts advocate Barbara Gould.

An open call to artists went out last month and the winning artists will receive cash prizes at the reception tonight (Feb. 18) at 7-9 p.m. at the cultural centre, 13530 72 Ave.
