The Sidekick Players Club is holding open auditions next week for the theatre company’s last production of the season.
Rounding out the troupe’s 2023-24 run of shows will Norm Foster’s “comedy of manners” The Long Weekend, directed by Laura Sutherland-Smith and Carroll Lefebvre.
“During a weekend visit between two couples, the true nature of the relationships come to the surface as the four so-called ‘best friends’ slowly discover how they really feel about each other,” reads a synopsis posted on the Sidekick Players website.
“Successful lawyer Max and his wife Wynn are about to show off their beautiful new summer home to their best friends, Roger and Abby. But it doesn’t take long to uncover the true feelings behind this long friendship. What is meant to be a relaxing holiday turns into a battle of wits as their pasts catch up with them, the gloves come off and old scores get settled in comedic fashion.”
Directors Sutherland-Smith and Lefebvre are looking to cast two couples in their 50s (two males and two females).
Auditions will be held at the Tsawwassen Arts Centre April 23 and 24 from 7 to 9 p.m. on a first come, first served basis. Actors will cold read from the play’s script, which is available to peruse through the Vancouver Public Library prior to the audition.
Rehearsals will commence the week of April 28.
The Long Weekend will play at the Tsawwassen Arts Centre (1172 56th St.) June 14-29.

Sidekick Players is a not-for-profit organization and as such there are no remunerations paid. All those cast must become members of the club; membership is $10 per person.
