It will be a weekend to remember.
The West Fine Art Show an annual event held on the South Surrey ranch of Senator Gerry St. Germain and organized by Langley artist Murray Phillips, returns the weekend of Sept. 6-8.
“This year’s West Fine Art Show is especially personal,” said Phillips, West Fine Art Show founder.
“This year’s show, named Remembering Betty, is in honour of my wife, who lost her battle with cancer in June this year.”
Phillips’ wife was a huge part of the show’s success, and the community of artists participating feel the theme is a fitting memorial as they come together for a fourth season, he noted.
The three-day event is held annually on the grounds of Sen. St. Germain’s Indian Springs Land and Cattle Company Ranch — a setting almost as remarkable as the art on display.
Starting on Friday, Sept. 6, the gathering presents an opportunity for the public to view a wide range of fine art and interact with the artists.
Visitors will be encouraged to take their time viewing the pieces on display, and to speak to the artists who will be available throughout the show.
There will be entertainment all weekend, including Fort Langley guitarist, John Gilliat and local musical trio, Exit 58.
Celebrity guests, Red Robinson and Shell Busey will be on site during the show, and as in the past, Busey will host his annual pancake breakfast on Saturday, Sept. 7, between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Each year, the West Fine Art Show selects a charitable organization to support; this year’s show will see partial proceeds donated to the Langley Hospice Society in memory of Phillips’s wife, who wanted to ensure that others could access the kind of care and support she and her family had throughout their experience with the Langley Hospice Society.
“We are truly honoured to part of such a remarkable event,” said Shannon Todd Booth, communications and funds development coordinator, Langley Hospice Society.
