Potters Christmas Store opens in Cloverdale

Mega-Christmas store largest in Western Canada

Potters Christmas Store is open again.

Cloverdale’s mega-Christmas emporium at Potters Nursery officially opened Nov. 1.

This is the 19th year Potters Nursery has opened its unique Christmas market.

“A visit to the Christmas Store at Potters, which switches each November from being a full-service garden centre, has become an annual holiday-kickoff tradition for Lower Mainland residents,” noted Morgan Sommerville, in a press release issued Nov. 1.

The store has thousands of ornaments, designer Christmas trees and other collectables—along with stocking stuffers, food items, and thousands of other types of decorations.

Billed as “Western Canada’s largest Christmas store,” the retail area covers 28,000 square feet.

“(It’s) the ultimate holiday haven for exquisite decorations, unique giftware, and specialty items,” added Sommerville. “An incredible selection of toys, jigsaw puzzles, games, and gifts for those hard-to-buy-for adults rounds out the inventory.”

The store has designer trees and collectibles, innumerable hand-picked ornaments, dozens of different Christmas stockings, and stocking stuffers.

Sommerville said going to Potters store offers more than shopping, it also offers a “holiday experience” for the whole family.

“There are 30 themed Christmas trees throughout the store this year, including two massive, constantly spinning upside-down trees that are loaded with white lights and decorations,” Sommerville continued.

“Bring the season to life by visiting intricately detailed, remarkable displays.” Those displays include: Pretty in Pink, Dark Room, Gourmet Food, Candyland, Petland, Thru the Grapevine, Coca-Cola, Men-Zone, Great Britain, and MouseTown.

Pretty in Pink is a front-entrance display that will assault the eyes with the magic of colours and light. As customers enter Potters, they’ll see thousands of sparkling pink and white ornaments hung from ceiling to floor.

More than 100 Christmas-themed water lanterns light up Dark Room—a 3,000-square-foot gallery. Dark Room illuminates 75 different Christmas-themed canvas paintings.

The Gourmet Food zone has thousands of specialty products that will enrich anyone’s Christmas season, “including must-have Potters Peach and Kentucky Bourbon sauce,” along with many other jellies, syrups, sauces, hot chocolates, and pretzels.

Candyland features a block of sweet ornaments for the tree including, gingerbread, cotton candy, and donuts.

“Bring furry friends holiday joy with pet-themed tree ornaments, cushions and stockings” in Petland, Sommerville noted.

Thru the Grapevine has expanded this year to include not only wine, but also wine-themed ornaments and gifts for both beer lovers and wine lovers.

The Coca-Cola zone has been expanded too. This collectibles area has morphed into an authentic 1950s diner-themed display of Coca-Cola ornaments, figurines and more.

New this year, Men-Zone is “loaded with cool gifts he’ll love.”

The Great Britain zone has British-themed delights, including tinned cookies, Corgi mugs, and Royal tableware pieces.

MouseTown, run by and for mice, has been redesigned this year. The display has been a hit with kids over the past two years and includes mini-ski lifts, cable cars, and many other moving display pieces.

Potters Christmas store is open daily through Dec. 24. The store is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday through Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.
