The Fraser Valley Symphony Orchestra presents its winter concert

Violinist Isabel Lago and cellist Will Lin are the featured soloists at the Fraser Valley Symphony Orchestra's upcoming winter concert, Beethoven and Friends, set to take the stage Sunday in Abbotsford.

The pair are winners of the symphony's young artist solo competition. Lago, an award-winning performer who joined the Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra this year, will perform the first movement of the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in E minor.

Lin will perform the first movement of the Dvorak Concerto for Cello in B minor. Lin has been participating in music competitions since the age of seven, enjoying a standing ovation at his first public performance at the National Concert Hall.

Rounding out the Jan. 31 program will be a presentation by the full symphony of Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 in A Major.

Lindsay Mellor is the conductor of the Fraser Valley Symphony, now in its 32nd year.

The concert is at Matsqui Centennial Auditorium, 32315 South Fraser Way in Abbotsford, Sunday, Jan. 31 at 3 p.m. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and students, $5 for children (ages 12 and under).
