Want to celebrate all things Celtic?

The Museum of Surrey will once again host its annual Celtic celebration.

Celtic Fest will return to the Museum of Surrey on the Saturday after St. Paddy’s, set for March 23.

“For over fifteen years people from various Celtic communities have proudly celebrated their culture at the Museum of Surrey,”said Lynn Saffery, manager of the museum. “We are excited to highlight this culture and heritage once again with great performances and crafts.”

A press release for the event encourages Surreyites to “join” a celebration that will feature a variety of different performers, community partners, and collectors to salute Celtic culture.

“This free event will feature live music, community partner booths and live performances throughout the day, including Heather Jolley Highland Dancers and Harpist Rebecca Blair, scavenger hunt, arts and crafts, and activities for all ages.”

According to the release, attendees are invited to join the staff of Surrey Archives as they’ll be at the museum showcasing the history of Surrey’s early Irish families. Documents for the public to peruse will include both photos and maps and they’ll also be able to listen to oral histories.

The release also entices Celtic Fest-goers to visit the other attractions on at the museum. Visitors are encourage to check out the Lego feature exhibit “Everything is Still Awesome,” which is only on for a couple more weeks until March 21, “Bi-Giwen: Coming Home,” now on in the museum’s Indigenous Hall, and “Lahore to London” showing in the Community Treasures Exhibit area upstairs next to the permanent Surrey history exhibit.

Celtic Fest runs from 1 to 4 p.m. March 23 at the Museum of Surrey. Entrance is free.

The Museum of Surrey is located at 17710 56A Avenue in Cloverdale. For more information, visit surrey.ca/museum.
