Tickets go on sale today for the fundraising event being organized on behalf of Cloverdale's Dylan Battye.
The Grade 10 student lost part of his leg after contracting a deadly infection earlier this year.
A defenceman for the national U-16 Canadian Ball Hockey team, Dylan, 15, also plays football for the Lord Tweedsmuir Panthers.
His Cloverdale family of friends, teachers, teammates and coaches are determined to help him recover – and pursue his dreams – by raising money to purchase an athletic prosthetic leg.
Local businesses and individuals have donated auction items and services in kind for the June 15 fundraiser for Dylan.
Organizers are now asking supporters to buy a ticket to the event – even if they cannot attend in person. (They just need to let the school office know they won't be able to make it.)
Tickets are $25. They're available at the Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary school office, 6151 180 Street (604-574-7407).
The fundraiser is being held from 6 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Friday, June 15 at the Thirsty Penguin Grillhouse (above Langley Twin Rinks), 5700 Langley Bypass, in Langley.
The evening includes dinner, a silent auction, raffles and a toonie toss.
Three months ago, Dylan fell ill with what was thought to be a bad cold. But within a week, he was in B.C. Children's Hospital fighting for his life and placed in a medical coma.
Dylan is now back home in Cloverdale, and on his way to recovery. But he has lost part of one of his legs, due to complications.
