Superheroes help police deliver toys to hospital in memory of Keian Blundell

Holiday Wish Toy Drive ‘a resounding success’ this year

Police and some “superhero” friends will deliver toys and cash donations to BC Children’s Hospital on Tuesday (Dec. 18), in memory of young Keian Blundell.

The 2018 Keian’s Holiday Wish Toy Drive has been “a resounding success,” according to Surrey RCMP.

From Dec. 1 to 15, volunteers collected more than 1,000 toys and $8,750 in donations.

The annual toy drive began in 2012 when Keian, who had T-Cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia, was just five years old.

“Keian’s holiday wish was for every sick child to receive a gift during the holiday season,” RCMP said in a news release last month. “He lost his battle with leukemia in 2014, but his legacy lives on through this annual toy drive.”

In a release Tuesday, RCMP gave thanks “to all of the kind-hearted people who have helped honour Keian’s Holiday Wish and to make the holidays a little brighter for sick kids and their families.”

During this year’s drive, donations could be dropped off at the Surrey RCMP’s main detachment on 57th Ave., and also at district offices in Whalley/City Centre, Newton, Cloverdale and South Surrey, among other locations.
