Stocking up on candies and other goodies for Halloween?

If you live near Clayton Heights Secondary, you’re reminded to set aside a donation for the Surrey Food Bank – along with the usual treats for tricksters.

On Monday, Oct. 31 from about 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., students will be out collecting donations of non-perishable food items for the food bank from residents of the Clayton and Hillcrest neighbourhoods, as well as homes between the school and Highway 10.

If you’re not going to be home, you’re asked to leave donations outside the door in a cloth bag. The students will pick them up.

About 150 students are expected to take part in this year’s Halloween for Hunger campaign.

It’s spearheaded by the Project Equal Club at Clayton Heights, says Nalin Dhillon, a Grade 12 student at the school.

Helping Surrey’s hungry isn’t just a Halloween thing for the students; the school is consistently the top school contributor to the Cloverdale Christmas Hamper program each December.
