Coast Mental Health has launched a call for nominations for the 2024 Courage To Come Back Awards.
The award celebrates five British Columbians “who have overcome illness or adversity and have ‘come back to give back’ to their communities, and to inspire others to do the same,” reads a post on the Courage to Come Back website.
Previous winners include Surrey woman Danielle Laviolette.
“Danielle has become a well recognized and respected force for good in her neighborhood. She is a positive role model for those with autism other learning differences, speaking honestly about her challenges,” reads a post on the Courage to Come Back website.

One nominee will be chosen in each of the following categories: Addiction, medical, mental health, physical rehabilitation and youth.
Winners will be recognized on May 23, 2024 at the 26th annual Courage To Come Back Awards at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
“As chair of the Courage To Come Back Awards, reading through the hundreds of nominations we receive every year is a moment I look forward to with great anticipation,” says Lorne Segal, awards chair. “All of them are true journeys of bravery, resilience and strength in the face of adversity. I am grateful to those that have the courage to share their stories with us.”
