A local resident and accomplished model builder has created replicas of heritage buildings in Cloverdale.

Gerald Siebert will have several of his models, such as one of the original Pacific 66 gas station in Cloverdale, on display at Brick Yard Station (corner of 175 St. and Hwy. 10) during the Cloverdale Blueberry Festival.

Siebert’s models will join those of fellow club members with the Automotive Model Builders of Vancouver, who will showcase models that compliment the neighbouring race cars in the Race Car Zone, Cloverdale BIA executive director and Surrey Heritage Society president Paul Orazietti said.

He added that the club’s models will match the time period of the 1960’s and 70’s race cars and dragsters on display.

A special feature of the Race Car Zone will be an original 1963 Doss, Clayton and King Top Fuel Dragster that will start several times throughout the day.

More heritage will be on display across Hwy 10. at Firehall 8 (17572 57 Ave.) – look for a 1912 La France Heritage Fire Truck. As well, a number of Canadian military vehicles will be showcased in the Cloverdale Royal Canadian Legion parking lot across the street.

Orazietti added that the new BC Vintage Truck Museum next to the Cloverdale Fairgrounds (at 176 St. and 60 Ave.) will also be open on festival day.

“Even though the event is blueberry themed, a lot of the content deals with heritage and history,” he said.
