The day is nearly done, blueberry pies and pancakes eaten, vendors visited, crafts made, rides ridden, games played ... but no one wants to go home yet.
The best way to finish off the fun of the Cloverdale Blueberry Festival on Aug. 6 is to enjoy a colourful car cruise to the Cloverdale Rodeo Grounds, followed by a classic rock n’ roll concert and dance, say festival organizers.
And with Gino Gerussi – nephew to Canadian Beachcombers icon Bruno Gerussi – and Dance Mob performing the live music to dance by, the nighttime event will be a blast, says the Cloverdale Rodeo’s KerryLee Manuel.
“It’s a fun way to cap off the blueberry festival,” she says.
“Everybody can come down, look at the cars and enjoy themselves. And it’s open to all ages.”
Presented with the Cloverdale BIA and the Surrey Show and Shine, the car cruise, concert and “blueberry dance” are new this year, notes BIA executive director Paul Orazietti.
The vintage, custom, muscle and street rod vehicles will wend their way through Cloverdale before organizing beside the Agriplex at the rodeo grounds, he says.
“We’re really looking forward to it,” he says.
Manuel agrees, and points out that besides great music, shiny cars and dancing, the event is also inexpensive.
“The $5 admission includes a burger,” she says.
“It’s affordable fun.”
The car cruise is scheduled to start at approximately 5 p.m.
After the car cruise, stick around for a fun, all-ages Blueberry Dance. The dance will kick off at 6 p.m. and run until 10 p.m. at the 62 Ave. / 176 St. entrance – right beside the Agriplex at the Cloverdale Rodeo Grounds.
