Abbotsford residents might be noticing a few cyclists on the road over the next few days.
The annual Cops for Cancer Tour de Valley made its way through Abbotsford on Monday, with 19 cyclists pounding the pavement.
Cpl. Leslie Betker from the Burnaby RCMP said this is the seventh year he’s participated and this is the most athletic group he’s ever ridden with.
“It’s going really good so far,” he said, outside of the Abbotsford News office on Monday afternoon. “We started early on Thursday morning and aim to cycle about 100 kilometres each day.”
Betker explained that Tour de Valley riders travel from Langley to Boston Bar and then south to Tsawwassen and White Rock over the nine-day ride. The group makes stops at sponsors and local schools, with many people giving donations along the way.
The ride runs until Oct. 2, with the group next making stops in Surrey, Langley, White Rock and Delta. For more information on the ride, http://convio.cancer.ca/site/TR/CopsforCancer_BC/COPS_BC_odd_?pg=entry&fr_id=19104.
