Police say a woman is lucky to be alive after a dramatic two-truck accident on the weekend.

On Saturday, March 19, at about 2:25 a.m. a 1998 Ford dump truck was traveling eastbound on Highway 1, at the 152 off ramp, when it was struck by a 2009 Dodge pickup truck.

Damage to the pickup was so severe, the roof had to be removed to remove the 42-year-old female driver and the 22-year-old male passenger.

The woman from Surrey was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Her passenger was treated for minor injuries.

The 48-year-old dump truck driver from Surrey was uninjured.

Police suspect speed and alcohol may have been factors on the part of the 42-year-old woman.

The crash is currently under investigation in order to obtain further evidence.

Any persons who may have witnessed the crash and have not yet already spoken with police, are requested to contact Const. Daniel Carter of Port Mann Traffic Services, at 604-526-9744.
