Instant songs and spontaneous solos

Free session offered Oct. 27; regular classes start Nov. 3 at Surrey Arts Centre.

Create instant songs, spontaneous solos, three-part harmony, and backup vocals.

Sound impossible? You’ll be doing it all before you know it when Songs on the Spot comes to the Surrey Arts Centre.

Course instructor Alan Marriott creates an encouraging and supportive atmosphere where everyone, regardless of singing ability, feels at ease. Under his guidance, you improvise words while the accompanist improvises the melodies.

In this fun and inspirational adult class, all you need is an interest in music and a sense of humour. Singing experience is not required.

Songs on the Spot will run for six weeks from Nov. 3 to Dec. 8 at a cost of $100. A free, introductory session is being offered next Thursday (Oct. 27) from 7-9:15 p.m. Although this session is free, you need to register in advance to book your spot.

Register either online at www.surrey.ca/register or by phone at 604-501-5100. Advance registration is necessary as minimum class size must be reached one week prior to the start date.

Surrey Arts Centre is located at 13750 88 Ave.
