Six Surrey Blockbusters to close

146 stores across Canada will be shuttered by receiver

Six Blockbusters Video stores in Surrey are on the block, as a receiver has been given conduct of sale.

In total, 146 stores across Canada are being sold under the court sanctioned liquidation.

The receiver, Grant Thornton Ltd., is trying to sell the chain, which was forced into receivership because of the bankruptcy of its U.S. parent company.

“We appreciate the ongoing support of Blockbuster Canada’s customers, employees, suppliers and other stakeholders during this period” said Michael Creber on behalf of Grant Thornton Limited in a press release. “We are hopeful that the process approved last Friday will result in resolution of the issues currently facing Blockbuster Canada Co.”

The Surrey stores that are closing include:

Cloverdale at unit 400-6466 176 St.

King George Boulevard at 2640 152 St.

Nordel Crossing at 143-12080 Nordel Way
