Canada Winter Games underway in Prince George

Eight Surrey athletes competing in two-week national event

The Canada Winter Games take place Feb. 14 to March 1 in Prince George.

Opening ceremonies for the Canada Winter Games will take place tonight (Friday) in Prince George, the host community for the 17-day event.

More than 2,400 athletes from the country's 10 provinces and three territories will be be competing in 19 sports.

Eight Surrey athletes will be in Prince George for the Games. Tyler Tardi (curling) and Brooke Ashcroft (target shooting) will compete in Week 1 (Feb. 14-20).

Pin Kuan Ho (badminton), Stephanie Divin (figure skating), Michael Rasmussen (hockey), Shayna Goodwin (snowboard), Michele Garceau (squash) and Seray Sefayi (synchronized swimming) will compete in Week 2 (Feb. 21 to March 1).
