CLOVERDALE — The boys of summer are piling up the hardware in Cloverdale.

The Cloverdale Spurs Mosquito AAA Tier 2 team went a perfect 4-0 in Burnaby to win gold at last weekend’s Summer Fun tournament.

"The boys really came together and stayed focused,” said head coach Scott Wilson. “And it was great to see everyone contribute. In fact, every single player pitched in the tournament."

The team's assistant coaches are Chris Walters and Now editor Beau Simpson.

"At the beginning of the season, I promised the boys if they won a tournament, their photo would be in the paper," said Simpson. "They worked hard and earned it."

Meanwhile, the Mosquito A team (pictured below) has picked up two tournament championships. Coached by Steve Tordiffe, the Mosquito A team won gold at Cloverdale’s Boulanger tournament and again at last weekend’s Sea to Sky Invitational in Whistler.

Finally, the Tadpole Spurs (White) won gold at Newton’s Cook tourney and the Spurs (Red) won gold at the Ridge Meadows Rupert Reed tourney in an exciting, all-Cloverdale final.
