Surrey School District PE helping teacher Kim Eagle (second from right) was honoured by ProMOTION Plus, the City of Surrey and the BC Summer Games Society with a Leadership Award Friday for her outstanding contribution to girls and women in sport.

When she was in Grade 11, Eagle was a participant in the 1978 BC Summer Games, competing in the field hockey events.

At this year’s Summer Games, which took place last week, Eagle took on the colossal role of equipment chairperson, ensuring that all Games venues had exactly what they needed for their competitions to run smoothly.

In her work with the school district, Eagle connects teachers, coaches and students to available resources. She is pictured with (from left) ProMOTION Plus director of operations Ali Sunderland, Games president Bill McNamara and Surrey Coun. Linda Hepner.
