Letter: Cloverdale class inspired by royal visit

A few weeks ago, Miss World Canada 2012, Tara Teng, came into our school, Hillcrest Elementary.

To the editor;

A few weeks ago, Miss World Canada 2012, Tara Teng, came into our school, Hillcrest Elementary,  to talk to us about child labor, poverty, smuggling and trafficking.

“When Tara spoke to us I stopped to think about how sad this is for those children,” says Jenna Prem.

“I put myself in their shoes and think about how hard they have to work for so little pay,” says Mariko McKeown.

“I felt so bad for the slaves who have to work in these horrible conditions.”

We and Hillcrest Elementary School thank Tara Teng for coming to tell us more about child labor, poverty, smuggling and trafficking.

We thank Tara for giving us the opportunity to learn more about this problem in the world.
