It is with great sadness that the Surrey Historical Society and Fraser Valley Heritage Railway report the passing of William "Bill" Robinson. Bill was recently admitted to Langley Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Royal Coumbia Hospital where he passed on July 2. Bill will be missed by the many who volunteered along side him at the Cloverdale station of the heritage rail. He was quite the character and to the many guests of the FVHR he will be remembered as the big guy behind the counter of the station's souvenir space. He will be particularily remembered for his many seasonal roles such as Father Christmas and the ghost of the Dule of Connaught. Bill brought a larger than life presence to these characters and made the Christmas and Halloween events special for hundreds of guests each year. He was known to be late for the volunteer meetings but we all know he really wanted to make an entrance each Saturday and Sunday morning. A man who always had a storey to share and a kind word for everyone he met, Bill will surely leave an empty space in the hearts of all who had the oppertunity to know and work with him.
