A woman has died after being struck by a car on Christmas Eve in Whalley.

At 2:45 p.m. on Dec. 24, Surrey RCMP received a report of a car hitting a pedestrian in the 9100-block of 132 Street.

The investigation so far indicates the pedestrian, a 32-year-old woman from Surrey, became entangled with the car while it was in motion.

The pedestrian fell off the side of the vehicle, sustained what appeared to be relatively minor injuries at the time, and was transported to hospital.

The driver, a 41-year-old man from Surrey, remained at the scene and is cooperating with police. Unfortunately, the pedestrian’s injuries worsened and she died at the hospital two days later.

“If anyone saw this crash occur and hasn’t yet spoken to police, we would like to hear from you,” said Cpl. Scotty Schumann. “Witness accounts are paramount to determining the sequence of events that led to this tragic incident.”
