White Rock arson probe continues

Arson investigation in May 15 blaze is 'high-priority, ongoing, active'

Nearly six months after a fire at a Five Corners complex left close to 100 people homeless, police say the investigation into who was responsible remains “high-priority, ongoing, active.”

But White Rock RCMP Staff Sgt. Daryl Creighton said making any additional information public at this point could “hamper progress.”

“It’s ongoing and active, but there’s really nothing we can share,” Creighton told Peace Arch News Wednesday.

Fire ripped through the Ocean Ridge on May 15, after breaking out at the Allure, a four-storey condominium complex under construction immediately south of the building.

Residents were evacuated from 60 residential units; a dozen ground-level businesses were also impacted.

The incident also resulted in a three-day boil-water advisory for the city.

Ten days after the blaze, police announced it had been deliberately set.
