Surrey RCMP ticket driver for failing to display ‘N’ after van crashes into Earls

Police don’t believe alcohol was a factor in the collision, which happened around 8:20 p.m. Sunday night

Surrey RCMP have ticketed a driver after a Dodge Caravan crashed into the front entrance of an Earls restaurant in Guildford Sunday night.

According to police, the driver was attempting to turn into the parking lot while driving northbound on 152nd Street before the crash.

It happened around 8:20 p.m., in the 10100-block of 152nd Street.

“The minivan took out several shrubs and a support beam and propelled it through the front window into the waiting area and narrowly missed a birthday party,” said a Black Press freelancer at the scene.

“The manager said it was a miracle no one was injured as the restaurant was full of patrons, also stating that if anyone was coming or going near the front door would have most definitely been injured,” the freelancer noted.

Surrey RCMP Corporal Elenore Sturko said the driver received “violation tickets for driving without due care, and failure to display ‘N.’”

“Alcohol was not a factor in the collision,” she added.

No serious injuries were reported, according to police.
