The BC Coroners Service is investigating the sudden deaths of two seniors in a White Rock home.

Const. Chantal Sears said a 73-year-old man and 66-year-old woman – husband and wife – were found just after 4 p.m. Tuesday by a woman who went to the house in the 1100-block of Finlay Street because she "hadn't heard from her friend in a while."

Mounties who attended initially believed they smelled gas near the residence, however, firefighters and Fortis crews determined a gas leak was "not the case."

"The fire department came out and tested the air quality," Sears said.

Cause of death has not been determined. However, Sears said there was no evidence of suicide and foul play is not suspected.

It's believed the pair had been deceased since late Friday or early Saturday. Their identities have not been released.

Police were seen canvassing neighbouring homes Tuesday.
