Investigators on the scene of a serious collision at 176 Street (Highway 15) and 40 Avenue in Cloverdale.

Two people were airlifted to hospital with serious injuries early this afternoon in Cloverdale after a pick-up truck collided with a tractor-trailer on 176 Street at 40 Avenue at around 12: 30 p.m.

Northbound lanes on Highway 15 (176 Street) have been closed between 32 Avenue and Highway 10 for several hours.

Surrey RCMP say a pickup truck heading eastbound on 40 Avenue appeared to stop at the stop sign at 176, but proceeded into the path of the northbound truck.

The larger truck struck the pickup on the passenger side.

Late this afternoon, Surrey RCMP Traffic Services were still on the scene investigating. Driver inattention appears to be a factor, RCMP say.

One of two dogs found inside the pickup was found deceased.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
