Surrey RCMP are treating an accident that seriously injured a cyclist in Hazelmere as a possible hit and run.

A 52-year-old woman biking near 16 Avenue and 180 Street was struck by a dump truck and thrown into a ditch at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday July 14.

The dark red dump truck with pup trailer did not remain at the scene, RCMP Sgt. Drew Grainger said, but he added it’s not clear if the driver knew he hit the cyclist.

The cyclist as taken to hospital by air ambulance with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
