Oak Bay Police arrest two for cocaine trafficking

Oak Bay Police have arrested a 39-year-old Saanich resident and a 38-year-old Langford resident for trafficking cocaine.

Oak Bay Police have arrested a 39-year-old Saanich resident and a 38-year-old Langford resident for trafficking cocaine.

The arrests come as the result of a month-long investigation by the Oak Bay Police Department Detective Division. Oak Bay police first became involved after learning of a man selling cocaine in Oak Bay.

Undercover cops bought drugs off the suspect numerous times and this morning arrested the suspects without incident near Cook Street Village by the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team after pulling over a vehicle.

Oak Bay Police worked with Victoria Police Crime Reduction Unit and with the Saanich Police Department to close the case.

A related search warrant executed at a house in the 3600 block of Quadra St. in Saanich also revealed a small marijuana grow operation.

"This is an excellent example of local police agencies sharing information and working in a collaborative manner to address the illegal trafficking of drugs in our communities," said Oak Bay chief constable Mark Fisher.

Oak Bay Police will be recommending three charges of trafficking in a controlled substance and one count of production of a controlled substance.
