Thrillers top Surrey Libraries’ list of most-checked books of 2018

Lee Child’s ‘The Midnight Line’ was #1 for both physical book and eBook checkouts

Surrey residents love reading “who-dunnits,” according to a list of most-popular books checked out from Surrey Libraries in 2018.

Lee Child’s The Midnight Line, part of the Jack Reacher series of thrillers, was tops for both physical book and eBook checkouts, with a combined 903.

The top eAudio book was Celeste Ny’s Little Fires Everywhere, which was checked out 222 times.

“Mystery/thrillers were the most represented genre in all the categories, while eAudio also had some non-fiction selections make the top 10,” noted a Surrey Libraries release Thursday (Dec. 20).

“Two classics (1984 by George Orwell and To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee) also made the adult fiction top 10 list.”

The top teen book borrowed was John Green’s Turtles all the Way Down, checked out 217 times.

In 2017, J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was the most popular print book checked out from Surrey Libraries’ nine branches.
