The man who was at the centre of a massive manhunt 10 years ago after he kidnapped his ex-girlfriend from Cloverdale had his parole hearing postponed Wednesday.
Ernie Meigs was convicted in 2004 in connection to an incident two years earlier when he broke into a former girlfriend's Surrey home. He raped a downstairs tenant before going upstairs where his ex and her mother and sister were sleeping.
Meigs then clubbed his ex-girlfriend's mom with a shotgun before kidnapping his ex-girlfriend and sexually assaulting her several times while he led police on a chase through B.C.'s Interior.
His victim managed to escape near Merritt the next day and Meigs surrendered to police a few days later.
His victims cannot be named due to a publication ban.
Meigs was sentenced to 18 years in prison, which he is currently serving in Prince Albert, Sask.
According to CTV News, Meigs became agitated at his parole hearing this week after his parole officer recommended to the parole board that they deny the full and day release Meigs had requested.
The parole officer said he had concerns over some of the contents on Meigs' Facebook page, particularly that he had posted some of his psychiatric evaluations on the social networking site.
Meigs said the evaluations contain some misinformation that he wants to clear up. The parole board suggested his hearing be postponed, to which Meigs agreed. No date has been set for that hearing.
