Traffic is busier than usual on the Semiahmoo Peninsula today, as shoppers take advantage of Black Friday sales across the region.
Though not a traditional Canadian holiday – it’s the day after U.S. Thanksgiving – and akin to Canada’s Boxing Day shopping rush, businesses north of the border have started to holding the sales in recent years as a way to entice locals to keep their shopping dollars in Canada.
With more residents frequently popular shopping areas throughout the city, Surrey RCMP also took the opportunity to tweet out a reminder to shoppers to lock their vehicles and keep valuables out of the sight of potential thieves.
Black Friday shopping? Thieves “shop” at parking lots so be sure gifts and valuables are kept out of sight. A message from #CplCrisp (seasonal safety and moustache grooming specialist.) pic.twitter.com/SOJZe9bYiH
