Shots rang out in Newton this week, as a man was fired at while parked in a driveway.

Police do not think he was hit.

At about 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday (Dec. 14), Surrey RCMP were called to a report of shots fired in the 7300-block of 125 Street in Newton. Officers arrived to find evidence that shots had been fired.

The initial investigation revealed the target of the shooting was in the driveway of a home when he was shot at. He drove off, and police believe he is unharmed.

The suspect vehicle was observed fleeing the scene immediately after the incident, and was last seen traveling south on 125 Street heading towards 72 Avenue. It is described as an older model silver coloured SUV.

The driver of that vehicle is described as a male, approximately 5’ 7”, with short dark hair, and a slim face. He was wearing a black jacket and dark pants.

Mounties are continuing to speak with witnesses to obtain further information. The investigation is still in its early stages, but initial indications are that this is a targeted incident.
