Close to 50 people protested the removal of more than 200 trees at the historic Bose Farm last week, said Ron Sousae, one of the organizers behind the Save the Bose Forest group.
The Aug. 1 protest along 64 Avenue in front of the 3.69 hectare property (located at 16420 64 Ave.) comes after Surrey Council passed a third reading in early July permitting the developer to remove the trees to make way for a residential development.
The developer submitted a revised plan this year that spares 122 of the trees and preserves heritage buildings on the site, but opponents want all 300-plus trees saved and say the development will put an additional burden on already overcrowded schools and congested streets.
