Police investigating Whalley homicide

A 23-year-old woman has been arrested for the death of another woman in the 10600 block of 138 Street.

Police are investigating what they believe is Surrey's latest murder, after a woman was found dead in Whalley.

Police and ambulance services were called to the 10600-block of 138 Street Thursday at about 5 p.m. for a woman needing medical attention.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) was called in to investigate.

Police arrested a 23-year-old woman at the scene and she is currently in custody.

“Investigators have yet to determine a motive but believe the victim and the suspect know each other," said IHIT Sgt. Jennifer Pound. "It is too early to assume what occurred and investigators will be working throughout the night in an attempt to clarify details and answer the many questions that arise in the initial stages of a homicide.”
