Parents invited to info session on teens and subtance use

Surrey parents are invited to an information session on teen substance use prevention next Thursday at Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary.

Surrey parents are invited to an information session on teen substance use prevention being held at Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary.

Parents for Prevention is aimed at parents of teenagers – and those with children in Grades 6 and 7 who will be making the transition to high school.

The guest speaker is Tracy Hardman, the Surrey School District’s Safe Schools substance abuse liaison, who will be sharing with parents tips and strategies aimed at helping children make healthy choices as they enter their first year of high school.

It’s open to all parents and is presented by Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary’s Parent Advisory Council. The Thursday, Oct. 10 presentation starts at 7 p.m.

Note: while some parents may wish to bring their children, organizers say the material is for mature audiences only.

For more information, contact Hardman at the Surrey School District, 778-772-3240.
