An off-duty police officer is stopped for suspected drunk driving on Sunday night.

An off-duty Mountie has been put on desk duty after being stopped for suspected drunk driving on the weekend.

Police confirm that a seven-year veteran police officer was stopped on Highway 1, near the 160 Street overpass in Surrey on Sunday night.

She is a member of the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit.

“She has been issued a 90-day administrative driving prohibition and a 24-hour roadside prohibition,” said Sgt. Peter Thiessen, spokesperson for the Lower Mainland District Regional Police Service. “The investigation is continuing, and we are still looking for the driver of a black Volvo who may have witnessed the incident. We really want that driver to contact us with any information he or she may have.”

The off-duty officer was involved in a single vehicle crash at about 10:45 p.m. while heading eastbound on Highway 1.

Police are urging the driver of the Volvo to contact Sgt. Dave Savoy of the Port Mann Freeway Patrol at 604-762-0148.
