Missing teen found

15-year-old's disappearance was out of character, his family says.

Gavin Petty

A teenager reported missing last week has been found safe.

On June 4, Gavin Petty was reported missing, having last been seen leaving his home near 125 Street and 90 Avenue on Tuesday (June 21) at about 12 noon. His family described his disappearance is out of character.

Investigators believed he may have tried to travel to the Central Interior to visit family, but he didn’t have any money for transportation.

The 15-year-old was found safe and close by on the weekend.

There are about 2,200 people reported missing annually in Surrey.

Police say one of the best defenses to keep their children safe is to maintain an effective and open dialogue with them.
