A bloody child being wheeled into a hospital on a stretcher, with a driver being hauled away in a police car is one of the youth drawings being handed out to drivers for infractions in school zones during and after the spring break.
Two hundred of the "Think of Me. Please, slow down" tickets have been issued during the campaign spearheaded by Surrey RCMP and ICBC.
In addition, 2,000 tickets have been handed out with fines attached.
The campaign is starting up again as children return to school after spring break.
“Now that the weather is warming up and schools are back in session after spring break, drivers should expect to see more children on our roads,” said Karen Klein, ICBC's local road safety coordinator. “Be extra cautious and watch for children especially in or around school zones. We’re also encouraging parents to take this time to review the rules of the road with their children and go over their route to and from school to make sure they’re taking the safest route.”
