IHIT locates vehicle related to South Surrey teen homicide

No arrests have been announced

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) says it found a vehicle that’s related to the murder of Bhavkiran Dhesi.

On Dec. 12, IHIT released a video of a dark grey Audi Q7 and a dark grey Dodge Ram truck. Police encouraged the public to call IHIT if they know the occupants or the owners of the vehicles.

Saturday, investigators tweeted that they found the Audi Q7.

“Vehicle found: IHIT investigators would like to thank the public for their assistance in locating the Audi Q7 related to the homicide of Bhavkiran Dhesi,” IHIT tweeted.

To date, there have been no arrests announced in connection with Dhesi’s death.

The 19-year-old’s body was found on Aug. 2, 2017, after police responded to a report of a vehicle fire in the 18700-block of 24 Avenue.

Dhesi was last seen leaving the family home, with the family car, at 9 p.m. on Aug. 1. The burning SUV was discovered just a few hours later, at 12:20 a.m., Aug. 2.

While Dhesi was not known to police, investigators have said they do not believe her death was a random act.

A news release issued by IHIT the day after her body was identified noted the investigation also “indicates that her death was not related to gang activity.”
